image: Pamir stamp

[edit]

I'm considering to suggest the Image:ShipPamirFalklandIslandStamp.jpg for deletion because it doesn't have a fair use rationale, and I don't see how we could explain that this particular image is indispensable. If you disagree, please contact me and/or add a rationale to the image. Thank you, Ibn Battuta 06:09, 27 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

other elements

How about saying that most stamps are perforated, and have gum on the back and require to be licked - except for stamp booklets which are peel-off? How many stamps without perfs had to be cut from the sheets? Hugo999 22:39, 1 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

That would be part of postage stamp; this is a specialized article talking about just one aspect of stamps, namely what's printed on them. Stan 13:43, 2 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Stamp CA 1981 17c Acadia.jpg

[edit]

Image:Stamp CA 1981 17c Acadia.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Linking

[edit]

The link to Postage stamp is in the intro and very likely is skipped over by most readers at that point. If link appears at the end of article, after the article has been read, the reader is much more apt to branch out and explore other areas of the topic. While MOS indeed says that Links already integrated into the body of the text are generally not repeated in a "See also" section... MOS also says However, whether a link belongs in the "See also" section is ultimately a matter of editorial judgment and common sense. MOS also says In general, link only the first occurrence of an item. There are exceptions to this guideline, including these: * where the later occurrence is a long way from the first ... Subject/link was in the beginning of the intro. Link restored out of consideration for average reader. No good reason was cited for omission of link. Gwillhickers 20:19, 9 December 2010 (UTC)
