Non-standard
[edit]Since Powered USB is not ratified by any generally recognized standards setting body but is instead owned by IBM it is actually a non-standard proprietary implementation rather than a standard and so should not be called a "standard".
- Can we call it a de facto standard ? --76.209.28.222 (talk) 12:47, 10 February 2009 (UTC)
- It is patented and belongs to someone, which would make it a proprietary standard except we have no such article because some consider it a contradiction in terms. Proprietary format would seem to apply unless someone wants to restrict that term to software. Jim.henderson (talk) 16:06, 10 February 2009 (UTC)
- It may be patented, and charged a license fee, but it is used by multiple manufacturers and is the dominant standard in a particular specialised application. I'd say it's a de facto standard.80.101.113.45 (talk) 15:08, 24 March 2011 (UTC)

Logo/Icon idea
[edit]Some icons are showing up with with the small USB symbol with a plus sign. Specifically one of the desktop machines we have purchased from DELL around 3 months ago. Could that be mentioned/included here? --134.84.164.49 (talk) 18:11, 30 November 2009 (UTC)
