Anachronism[edit]

“In the mid-15th century, as many as 1,000 slaves per year were exported from Arguin to Europe and to the Portuguese sugar plantations on the island of Sao Tomé in the Gulf of Guinea.”

I believe there were no Portuguese sugar plantations on São Tomé in the mid-15th century. What does the source (Warner) really say? 46.59.137.183 (talk) 19:41, 3 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
