Television[edit]

What about pre-emption in TV schedules? I had no idea what this meant when I first encountered it (the term is extremely rarely used in the UK), so an article about it would be useful. 86.132.142.201 03:45, 1 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Seconded; the preemption of television programming in the US is often cited as the downfall of many a television series (i.e. "The show's ratings looked bad during the third season because it kept getting preempted for baseball, leading to its eventual cancellation"). However, the concept of preemption is little-known in the UK, and this may well extend elsewhere outside of the US. 65.121.247.130 17:58, 30 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, it needs a separate article. Here in Canada, I've mostly heard the term "pre-empted" in the context of shows getting interrupted by local sporting events or breaking news. -- Gordon Ecker, WikiSloth (talk) 20:43, 28 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
