GA Concern[edit]

Hello, I have not read the article but I go through new GA noms from time to time. My concerns are two-fold, one is a banner to update the article. Having not read the article I don't know if this is still a legitimate tag. It could qualify for quick-fail if the tag remains. Also there are a few dead links in the ref section. This link [1] will show the dead links but here is a problem with the numbering so you will need to do a little figuring. I welcome discussion especially regarding the clean up banner. I'll check back periodically, if no word is done on these concerns in a week I will quick-fail the article. User:H1nkles citius altius fortius 03:32, 10 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the feedback. It's the first time I've nominated something for GA so I'm a little unsure of the procedure. I've removed the {{update}} template as I've kept the article fairly up to date. Also the dead links should be easy enough to deal with, but I notice you mention a problem with the numbering. Could you be a bit more specific as to what this is and I'll try to address it. Cheers TheRetroGuy (talk) 11:47, 10 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
ok, think I've got all the dead refs now and have added some live ones. Just need to sort out the numbers thing now. Cheers TheRetroGuy (talk) 12:40, 10 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry the issue with the numbering is a glitch in the check links tool not with the article. Thanks for responding and good luck with the nomination. User:H1nkles citius altius fortius 15:42, 10 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, the checklinks is good, the pic will need alt text for good article status. Here is the result, all is good apart from the signiture ? Off2riorob (talk) 18:42, 10 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Heres the dablinks, disambig that needs a couple correcting.  DoneOff2riorob (talk) 18:49, 10 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Just looking, there are some individual comments and at least one section, policies, that are lacking in citations to support the content, this will require some improvement. All content will require a supporting citation. Done Off2riorob (talk) 18:52, 10 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for sorting the disambig links. I haven't been around much today but will look for some refs for the policies section tomorrow and over the weekend. Cheers TheRetroGuy (talk) 22:32, 11 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Policies section now has several refs from reliable sources. The section will need to be rewritten though as the events it refers to are now in the past. Not sure how to add alt text so will have to invesigate. Cheers TheRetroGuy (talk) 19:28, 12 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
The alt is good, only the signature and I don't see that requires alt text. A review will clarify any issues remaining. Off2riorob (talk) 19:34, 12 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
ok, sounds good. Cheers TheRetroGuy (talk) 19:38, 12 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Useful Brown articles[edit]

A couple of useful articles detailing Brown's time in office.

Something missing[edit]

I could not see any mention of the removal if right to trial by jury, taking away a right in the Magna Carta, something that I know was not popular even with even Labour supporters. (Rovington (talk) 20:23, 31 May 2010 (UTC))[reply]

Apology over Alan Turing[edit]

Gordon gave a public apology about the treatment of Alan Turing after being successfully petitioned. Characters such as Stephen Fry signed the petition. This is surely worth a mention in this article, is there any agreement? 81.97.4.35 (talk) 19:12, 27 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

It is not worth mentioning in the context of this article which covers major events from the Brown premiership. As much as what happened to Turing is terrible, Brown's apology is a minor incident within his premiership, and is not relevant in this particular case.
