Prime minister vs. Chairmen

Technicaly Godmanis' office also was officialy called Chairmand, however Latvian SSR and Latvia aren't the same thing ~~Xil...sist! 08:52, 26 February 2008 (UTC)

Actually, Godmanis term ended almost two months after the elections to the 5th Saeima in which he was not re-elected. One can argue that he was actually acting PM for those almost two months. Philaweb T 17:23, 26 February 2008 (UTC)

Just a comment on "stuff"... "Presidents of...", "Prime ministers of..." et al. of Latvia refer to the sovereign Republic of Latvia. Period. The Latvian SSR has its own lists of First Secretaries et al. They (and this to our latest contributor) are not to be mixed under any circumstances. We welcome any and all templates and lists which expand documentation of the Latvian SSR; however, mixing the Latvian SSR and the Republic of Latvia (first independence, restored independence) is historically and factually inaccurate. —PētersV (talk) 19:47, 2 March 2008 (UTC)

To Ivan Bogdanov, you're welcome to edit the same for the Latvian SSR. Please do not "expand" to include POV that Latvia, the SSR, and Latvia restored are somehow a continuous entity. They are not. —PētersV (talk) 01:59, 12 March 2008 (UTC)

Order

Look at this picture - there is a list of Prime minsters apparently issued in late 30s, which lists 19 prime ministers. Maybe we should review the system used in the article ? The change in order occurs when a new government is formed, but this dosen't distinguish it ~~Xil * 14:38, 15 May 2008 (UTC)

I support reflecting the changes in government and showing all terms of service individually including when contiguous. That's partly done on the post-Soviet list (showing "1st and 2nd time") but not for pre-Soviet. —PētersV (talk) 16:40, 15 May 2008 (UTC)

Colors

I freely admit to having awoken this morning with an acute attack of high-than-usual brain density upon which coffee has had minimal impact. What do you mean ? At begining of each row (of table in code) there is bgcolor=#FFE8E8 , where nummbers are color code. The color depends on party. Or is it something else ? ~~Xil * 17:31, 17 June 2008 (UTC)

Godmanis

Godmanis is still listed as prime minister on the Latvian governmment's prime minister page. Seems the government would keep that sort of information up to date, so I suggest having it remain as incumbent. PetersV       TALK 17:41, 22 February 2009 (UTC)

Color coding, top table

If it's meant to color code parties it's not matching up 100%. Personally, I don't see that it adds much, and I also don't see any reason to have two tables that look different for the same position for the same country. VєсrumЬа ►TALK 15:16, 2 July 2012 (UTC)

Kirhenšteins

The Latvian Wikipedia article is incorrect. Upon Soviet occupation, Latvian sovereign authority was automatically transferred to Kārlis Zariņš (aka Charles Zarine) in London. Latvian sovereign authority ceased to function on Latvian territory. Kirhenšteins was installed as prime minister upon the "restoration" of Soviet authority (harkening back to the short-lived post WWI Bolshevik regime), so he cannot in any way be considered even a "puppet" prime minister of the Republic of Latvia as "Soviet Latvia" had been "established." I made the point on LV WP, I'll see what feedback is there before I delete again here (and delete on LV WP). VєсrumЬа ►TALK 01:21, 6 July 2012 (UTC)

I'd probably leave a note on Ulmanis that the Kirhenšteins was installed as the so-called prime minister of "Soviet Latvia," not the sovereign Republic of Latvia. VєсrumЬа ►TALK 01:27, 6 July 2012 (UTC)
