Based on nothing[edit]

"When the Palazzo Lampedusa in Palermo was badly damaged during the Allied invasion of Sicily in 1943, Tomasi sank into a lengthy depression and began to write Il Gattopardo as a way to combat it." I defy anyone to cite any evidence that Tomasi began writing that novel even within a decade of when the palace was damaged. - Jmabel | Talk 03:11, 27 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

There's an edit button on the article. I think I took this from the article on the book. JASpencer (talk) 08:57, 27 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@JASpencer: Where it was also uncited, and the person who wrote it there (still somewhat active) has not responded to my request for citation. Yes "there is an edit button". I used that to write "citation needed", which is my usual approach rather than just presume the prior editor didn't know what they were talking about. Sounds like you have no objection to my removing the statement, which I will now do. - Jmabel | Talk 00:15, 3 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
