Rewrite notes[edit]

  • Okay, I've rewritten this article to be nearly entirely about the 1960s version.
  1. They share nothing but a name and sort-of a publisher. Jamming the pair together should be very much a last resort only to avoid deletion.
  2. The material on the eighties version is woefully under-sourced; indeed it's only GCD, which is a fine resource but not a reliable source as per IMDB. As such, I am not splitting it off because it's a nothing; however, I hope to do Princess (1982 comic) when I reach that point while encouraging anyone else interested to do so in the interim. The sourcing is out there to clear notability (just), though it will have to be a scratch build as there's basically nothing to split off beyond bald stats written as a paragraph. I do not believe this article should be compromised in the meantime.
  3. This also avoids use of made-up terms like "Vol. 2", which in the case of British periodicals should be avoided due to some publications actually using magazine-style volume numbers. Doesn't matter what Marvel or whoever do.
  • The whole Princess/Tina/Princess Tina thing seems to have caused some good faith confusion: -
    • There's absolutely nothing I can find to show John Wagner was editor of either version of Princess. He would at best have just rocked up at DC Thomson when the original was cancelled, and does not seem to have had any involvement with the 1980s version. Presumably whoever added it was thinking of Princess Tina. This and the mention of Desmond Price seem to have been grabbed from the half-dead, poorly sourced and sadly often outdated UK comics wiki which seems to be talking about PT; the only source given is this, which doesn't mention staff at all. Gifford gives Trevor Newton as editor for the title and that's what I've gone with as it's citable, whereas everything online seems to use the previous incarnations of this very article as a basis. As with Ranger, Leonard Matthews was group editor (sorry, 'Director of Juvenile Publications') at the time and while he no doubt got involved with Princess he was almost certainly not an actual editor on the title. I cannot find any mention of Desmond Price in connection with the title anywhere, but will continue looking; must see if I still have a copy of the Alan Clarke book.
    • The Barbie strip seems to have been in Tina and then Princess Tina, not in Princess. Open to correction due to the odd gap, but as it is no sources point to that. BoomboxTestarossa (talk) 16:01, 26 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
