Contestant tables content fork

These tables are duplicated at List of Produce 48 contestants. They should either be shortened or moved to that page. Produce 101 page just lists the key voting period and only the top 11 or so contestants. Produce 48 needs to be similar in format. The details down to the last score and rank don't need to be there. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 18:18, 9 July 2018 (UTC)

Content forks are mostly cleaned up. The only listing on the main is the list of all 96 contestants with status in color on whether they are still in or out of the competition. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 20:19, 16 July 2018 (UTC)

MOS:JAPAN and Japanese contestants

Per MOS:JAPAN, Japanese contestant names should be listed in Western order (e.g. Jurina Matsui) rather than Eastern order (Matsui Jurina). If they go by single name or a nickname as their stage name, then use that instead. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 18:02, 9 July 2018 (UTC)

The Japanese contestants of previous seasons are listed in Eastern order change them too then. Fiona6331 (talk) 14:26, 29 July 2018 (UTC)

Companies listed and elimination table

Why are the contestants listed by company first? Shouldn't they just be listed as: Name of contestant, Company, Age? AngusWOOF (barksniff) 18:15, 9 July 2018 (UTC)

Elimination table and voting results are now on the contestants list. This should be consistent with how they are tracking positions on their website. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 20:18, 16 July 2018 (UTC)
Hi AngusWOOF. In my opinion, the "Top 12 ranking" table should be re-added here on the main article, as a form of summary of the List of Produce 48 contestants article. I believe it is notable enough to be remained here. Heolkpop (talk) 12:39, 17 July 2018 (UTC)
Why? They don't get any special prizes or advantages in overall score for being in the top 12 for that week. The elimination table columns can always be selected to sort for that week and they highlight in yellow who were in the top 12. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 22:47, 17 July 2018 (UTC)
@AngusWOOF: They definitely do not get any prizes, but as I said, placing it gives a summary of that long list of table. Not all readers want to see a detailed list, and waste so much time scrolling up and down as per List of Produce 48 contestants. It is also notable enough to be added in when 12 contestants will be part of the winning group. Lastly, it is worth noting that you cannot sort the columns on mobile. Produce 101 (season 2), a B-class article, gives a good example on this. Heolkpop (talk) 16:24, 22 July 2018 (UTC)

Season 2 is not really a good example as it contains frivolous details about chart ranking changes which is original research and not tracked by the show. There's also this yellow color on some of the names that isn't clear what it is for. The show only records their voting period ranks for the girls. If you want to keep a chart of the top 12 after each of the four voting periods so far (through episode 5), which can be documented, then you can create that table, but the final standing per individual episode is not sourced well. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 16:39, 22 July 2018 (UTC)
Winning the group competition in episode 3-4 for example, does nothing to affect the person's overall rank so that voting period is not recorded on their charts. Placing in the individual Visual center competition for episode 3 isn't notable either. The Produce 101 Season 2 and List of contestants there still suffers heavily from content forks. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 16:47, 22 July 2018 (UTC)
I've added the top 12 back to the main article, but only the ones as listed on the website rankings. Hopefully that will be good enough. If they want detailed results they should check the contestants page. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 17:13, 22 July 2018 (UTC)
Answering my own question, the company represented is indeed listed first on the profile pages for the contestants AngusWOOF (barksniff) 18:19, 22 July 2018 (UTC)

Not trainees

Please do not use the term Trainee for the contestants. Some of the participants are well-established members of groups. On the other hand, if the official website labels them all Trainees, please provide that reference. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 01:25, 17 July 2018 (UTC)

I'm seeing that term being used on some of the media material, like iTunes but I think contestants is a more neutral term. Calling Jurina Matsui or Sakura Miyawaki a trainee for example is kind of silly given how many top tens and centers they have had in their AKB48 groups. Same with leading candidate Lee Ga-eun being a main member of After School (band) AngusWOOF (barksniff) 17:15, 20 July 2018 (UTC)

Extent of aftermath section

Should aftermaths even apply to this grouping? Most contestants just return to their agencies and groups as usual. How far should the "Where are they now?" apply? 6 months? rest of 2018? or longer? AngusWOOF (barksniff) 18:34, 30 April 2019 (UTC)

I've started a discussion of this at Wikipedia_talk:Manual_of_Style/Television#Notability_and_extent_of_aftermath_sections AngusWOOF (barksniff) 22:50, 30 April 2019 (UTC)

Vote manipulation investigation

Since Produce X 101#Vote manipulation investigation is starting to overlap with Produce 48, Iz*One, X1, and Idol School, you are welcome to join the discussion taking place at Talk:Produce X 101#Split proposal to see how we can split the article, or if it is needed at this time. Your input is appreciated. Thank you! lullabying (talk) 21:32, 7 November 2019 (UTC)

Romanization of Korean Names

This may apply to more than one of the participants, but I have specifically noticed that eventual finalist and member of Iz*One, Kim Min-ju (김민주), has her name spelled three different ways in this article: Kim Minjoo (once), Kim Min-ju (twice), and Kim Min-joo (four times). I propose to reduce these to a single, consistent spelling, which should not be at all controversial.

I further propose to use the Revised Romanization with the surname dispensation (Kim rather than Gim), so that every instance of her name is spelled Kim Min-ju, which I perceive to be the current consensus, and which happens to reflect the title of her Wikipedia article.

EDIT: I'm suddenly less confident about my choice of spelling, having taken a look at the related article List of Produce 48 contestants. In that article her name is consistently spelled Kim Minjoo, which was the consensus at the time of broadcast, and in fact the article reads in part, The spelling of names in English is according to the official website[1].
As I still wish to reduce the various spellings in this article to a single one, my thinking is that I will—at least provisionally—use the historic spelling in order to maintain both context with the broadcast and -consistency with the related article.
Your input is welcome.

Wrong ranking on episode 1

Hi, I've made an edit and they removed it. I've edit because the ranking of the Episode 1 is wrong. The ranking of the 1st episode isn't the same as the 12th episode, so the information presented here is wrong.
