Mention more about subaudible tones. The UNIX beep(1) man page says middle C octave starts at 261.6 Hz, and I can do "beep -f 111" and can't our ears hear from 20-20000 Hz when young at least. --User:Jidanni 2006-11-16

Charging

Is this correct? With the use of MPT1327, TETRA etc users can be charged by usage and probably are on some systems. If the UK emergency services AIRWAVE system is included then they are very definitely charged by usage, so much so that users have been instructed to keep their calls short according to press reports. --jmb 10:40, 16 September 2007 (UTC)

Merge Land mobile radio system and Professional mobile radio?

We seem to have two articles, Land mobile radio system and this article, covering the same radio systems, or at least similar radio systems filling similar needs. This article even has land mobile radio system as an alternative title, which has got to be confusing for readers. I suggest merging them to reduce redundancy and confusion. I'd support the merge, but remember that land mobile radio system is just a US description and that many aspects of the broader systems, already described here, are outside this. Andy Dingley (talk) 00:45, 9 February 2019 (UTC)

While the concept and usage of the radio systems described in the two articles appears to have broad overlap, much of the information contained in the two articles, especially the technical information, has barely any overlap at all. Any merge would have to be carefully researched and written to insure that important information was retained while discarding repetitive or unimportant ideas. IMO, the opening paragraphs of the other article ("Land Mobile Radio System") is far more succinct and better describes these radios and how they are used. However, my biggest objection to the merge is how I got here in the first place. I was reading through FCC (USA) frequency interference issues and needed to know what constituted a "Private Land Mobile Radio Station." A Google search on that term landed me on the other article. This article didn't even show up. Perhaps this is a USA and Canadian-centric need, but it is a valid need for English language Wikipedia. A merge of the articles needs to take into account US and Canadian users who call these things by the names used by their regulatory bodies. "Professional Mobile Radio (PMR)" is a non-starter on this side of the pond. Radicaldad (talk) 05:51, 3 September 2019 (UTC)

This article starts with "also known as land mobile radio in North America" then proceeds to only cover European standards, which is completely nonsensical.
