The article states that the Saturn II would be used in the Horizon program. However, the Saturn II page states that it was designed after the Saturn V. Since the Saturn V did not exist until the 1960s, that means the Saturn II would be a late-60's design, and obviously wouldn't have been part of a late-50's design project. This article was the one that was incorrect, as were the wikilinks. The "Saturn I" and "Saturn II" vehicles described in the proposal were based on very early Saturn designs from when von Braun was still working for the Army instead of NASA. There was no clear direction at this time, even how the Saturn would be developed, and there were three competing family designs (Saturn A, B and C). The "Saturn I" was evidently the Saturn A-1, but the four-stage "Saturn II" isn't easily recognizeable on the A-B-C list, and was probably something else. It was totally unrelated to the stillborn Saturn V-derivative Saturn II concept in the article, which evidently came along late in the Apollo program, about the time of early shuttle plans? I just revisited this article and noticed I missed fixing the erroneous "Saturn II" reference in 2011; I just fixed it by replacing it with a wikilink to the Saturn C-2. JustinTime55 (talk) 13:44, 18 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Dennis Wingo states that von Braun was the author of the report over here: http://www.spudislunarresources.com/blog/some-myths-of-shuttle-history/, although no authors are named in the actual report.
