Top speed

[edit]

The article says:

At the outset Garbe even designed the P 8 as an express train locomotive, with the expectation of attaining a top speed of 110 km/h (68 mph).

But also mentions:

As a result of poor weight compensation the top speed estimated by Garbe was never achieved and it was eventually assessed at 110 km/h.

It looks like the design speed was greater than 110km/h, but the locomotive turned out to be capable of this figure. Does anyone have sources of the initial top design speed? 92.109.129.63 (talk) 20:13, 22 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for pointing that out. The German Wiki article says it was assessed at 100 kph not 110. So I've amended the text. --Bermicourt (talk) 20:26, 22 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Assessment

[edit]

The Prussian P 8 was one of the most numerous and widespread passenger locomotives and was operated by many European states in its day.
