COI posting revisions to state list

Hello volunteer community. I am going to go ahead and update the state affiliates list. I posted a request for the updates April 8 on this talk page. There has been no response. These are not controversial revisions and they will improve the article's accuracy. The list has been inaccurate and incomplete for some years. I welcome any feedback on this revision. Revisions to improve state affiliates list

Hello editing volunteers! My name is Dan Cook. I am being paid by U.S. PIRG to update the Public Interest Research Group article. I would like to request revisions to the State Affiliates section to improve the accuracy and clarity of the list of state PIRGs. I will use the Simple COI request format for these suggestions.

The reason for the revisions is that the current listing is confusing. Most--but not all--statewide PIRGs belong to an entity called the Public Interest Network, which is operated by U.S. PIRG. Thus the current list excludes two very active state PIRGs (New York and Vermont) and includes another (Minnesota) that is not affiliated with the Public Interest Network. So the list is inconsistent in its current content. The addition of an asterisk by the names of those that are not affiliated would further clarify this distinction.

My revisions are designed to clarify this situation. It would create a listing of all active state PIRGs, so that a reader will know where they are and how many there are. I am suggesting an introductory sentence that explains that three of those on the list are NOT affiliated with the national network. In addition, I have used the names of the state PIRGs as listed on their websites in order to be consistent.

I might also suggest a new subsection title: State PIRGs. This would better reflect the revised list of state groups, since not all are affiliates of USPIRG. DanDavidCook (talk) 19:13, 8 April 2020 (UTC)
