Let's get the party started

I guess the trend is to redirect job titles to the work that they do — e.g., Manager redirects to Management. I guess that will be the fate of this little page, as well. But I've put it out there, anyway. - dcljr 16:22, 5 Oct 2004 (UTC)

What is this, a publicist directory?

-Publicist//

-What is a publicist? A Publicist is a person whose job is to manage almost everything for either a movie or a song for a public figure, or a public person. A Publicist is also the person who hires the managers and fires them as well. Almost every month a publicisthttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Signatures has a new client, they get their job done in a month!! That’s a lot of work, for only getting 3,000$-5,000$ per month per client. Which that is not worth all of the hard work that they put into each and every movie and, or book.// -A Publicist has a major role in the movie business. They have a main function, which is to generate press coverage on all of their clients.// All of the jobs for a publicist is to: • Write Press Releases • Manage Campaigns • Other Public Relations Functions -Between the High profile personality and the members of the media,, the Publicist is basically the middleman. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 165.139.240.1 (talk) 14:45, 19 September 2007 (UTC)

A publicists modus operandi is to maximize their own ability to succeed within the relationship at the clients cost. Meaning; that to promote a service or product to a customer base or trade that is not within their core contact list has a high rate of failure and therefore sheds a bad light on their service. Ambiguous

The term publicist is ambiguous, quoth Merriam-Webster: pub·li·cist Pronunciation: \ˈpə-blə-sist\ Function: noun Date: 1792 1 a : an expert in international law b : an expert or commentator on public affairs 2 : one that publicizes; specifically : press agent

What's being currently described in this article is more along the lines of a press agent, methinks. Maikel (talk) 05:43, 28 October 2009 (UTC)
