History Section: Ku Klux Klan[edit]

The text that currently reads: "They created rules for a secret, hierarchical society devoted to suppressing freedmen and their white allies, and maintaining white supremacy." is historically inaccurate, as there is no evidence the sextet had any such "devotions" or "rules", nor any evidence of such activities on their parts.

Rather, they created a silly and pointless social club loosely based on the Kuklos Adelphon Fraternity, while the white supremacist thrust infiltrated later, after the 1867 Reconstruction Act was passed, out of the old pre-existing Slave Patrol elements, which same elements also founded at least two dozen other similar regional vigilante groups. But it was not the raison d'être of the six club-founders, who are only known to have staged some farcical street theater, played music, and occasionally raised funds for maimed soldiers. No evidence of any other activity, including white supremacist thrusts, is historically recorded before 1867.
