Hi,

I have just noticed that the structural formula of Punicalagin is wrong. Unfortunately, I can not modify it myself, but just wanted to make someone aware of the mistake, who can hopefully change it.

The mistake are two linkages in the formula part with four condensed rings (ellagic acid). Starting to count from the carbonyl group (1, 1'), the two benzene rings are connected via 2, 2'. Next the three carbon-oxygen-bonds need to be in positions 3,4,5 and 3',4',5' respectively. However, in the formula they are in 3,5,6 and 3',5',6' positions. The C-C bonds to the next galloyl moieties - currently in 4 and 4' - need to go to the 6, 6' position.

I'd like to point out that CAS-RN 65995-63-3 is in line with my correction above. SciFinder displays the structure differently, namely with an open-chain glucose part. This is a correct but not the preferred way to display the molecule.

In case of questions just let me know. Regards m Chem4ever (talk) 20:04, 9 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
