Redirecting from Meaning to Proposition (disambiguation)[edit]

Having been very dissatisfied with finding Purported, Purport, and Purports redirecting to Meaning (which is also a disambiguation article, but a seemingly far less relevant one), I'm planning to use WP:BOLD to redirect both to Proposition (disambiguation), as this begins with the statement 'A proposition is a statement which can be either true or false', corresponding fairly closely to the dictionary definition of 'purported'. The Macmillan Dictionary defines 'purported' as 'said by some people to be real or true, but not proved to be real or true', giving as an example 'The judges will now study this purported new evidence'. The Meaning disambiguation article has no similar initial statement about 'can be true or false'. My impression is that the link derived from the expression 'purported meaning', but 'purported' does not mean 'meaning', it means 'claimed' or 'alleged', etc (I also considered linking to Allegation and Claim, but those articles were also problematic). I'm a bit surprised nobody has addressed this issue before (the link is there since 2008), though quite likely most such links get removed when the disambiguation bot points out there's a problem with the link - this will continue to happen with the re-direct to Proposition (disambiguation), but with this redirect the editor should hopefully find a more relevant selection of suggested alternative links on offer at this disambiguation article (as I did).Tlhslobus (talk) 06:19, 18 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
