Badgers?

Um... wife of a reigning badger? That's vandalism, right? Bnovack 16:52, 10 August 2007 (UTC)

Russian Queen Regnant

Why aren;'t there any Russian Queen Regnants? There were quite a few of them, from Olga (who might be technically controversial) to Elizabeth to Catherine II. I can't edit Wiki very well, so I'll put in the names, maybe someone can help me syntax it?

Because they were techincally empresses Yanksta x 10:05, 8 May 2006 (UTC)

Technically you're right. However also technically, the word queen was never used in Russia nor in any country outside of Western Europe (Czarina, Pharaoh) - each of these is slightly different. I was interpreting "queen" to mean female head of state in a monarchy. At least, thats the best universal definition I can currently think of. If you think of anything, please get back to me. Regents Should Be Removed

People listed as regents should be remove. If they're regents, they're regents, not Queen regnants. 24.14.120.92 04:08, 10 September 2006 (UTC)

Isn't this list redundant when there is a category as well? --Peacenik 11:01, 21 Mar 2005 (UTC)

Aceh

Err, anybody have sources about these queens? I am not sure that all of them are regent queen. Draconins 09:46, 20 February 2006 (UTC)

Should she be on the list somewhere? --Dante Alighieri | Talk 22:48, 12 October 2006 (UTC)

I always thought of her as more of a tribal chieftain than a queen, but her article calls her a queen, so maybe that's the consensus among people who know more about the subject than I do. If so, yeah, she should probably be added. Ştefan 19:17, 4 December 2006 (UTC)

While we are on the topic, what about the Queen of Sheba? Crypticfirefly 15:09, 22 March 2007 (UTC)

Grand Duchess of Luxemberg?

Should Marie-Adélaïde and Charlotte be on the list? --Oh~my goDnesS 04:40, 8 March 2007 (UTC)

No. Their rank was Grand Duchess, which is above a princess but below a queen. -- Willthacheerleader18 (talk) 18:35, 21 March 2017 (UTC)

Louise-Hippolyte of Monaco

Louise-Hippolyte, Princess of Monaco was the soverign Princess of Monaco, equivalant to a queen regnant.

That is not equivalent to a queen regent as Monaco is a Principality and not a Kingdom. She would then be considered Princess regnant. -- Willthacheerleader18 (talk) 18:35, 21 March 2017 (UTC)

Order of list

Why is the list ordered such? Currently, it starts with Scotland/England/UK, Netherlands, Sweden, Denmark, Spain... and ends in Persia/Iran. Can we alphabetize instead? I do see a little difficulty in alphabetizing, regarding those countries that are listed under multiple names (such as Scotland/England/etc.), but I think it would be better to have some semblance of order than none at all. schi talk 20:14, 25 April 2007 (UTC)

POV

Queen Liliuokalani is described as "a pretender to the throne" after her forced abdication, which seems a rather non-neutral description. I'm changing that line to make it work better.134.82.108.5 21:02, 6 November 2007 (UTC)

Anula

I removed this sentence (added by user 124.43.48.6), as it didn't belong where it was, and I'm not sure it even belongs in the article. Anula certainly should be included in the list, though, so I left that alone.

Queen Anula of Sri Lanka was the first female ruler in Asia, intially rising to power as the consort of king Chore Naga.

Category:Queens regnant is itself a category within Category:Queens. — Robert Greer (talk) 16:51, 19 May 2009 (UTC)

Why? This page was only 26kb, so there is absolutely no reason why we need to incovenience readers by making them go to a separate page. According to WP:SIZE, nothing called for this split. Reywas92Talk 00:53, 25 February 2010 (UTC)

I think it works quite well now. There is no actual need to list all of them in the article, take a look at King for example. One click is hardly an inconvenience. MickMacNee (talk) 01:00, 25 February 2010 (UTC)
Not comparable because there is no companion list. There isn't even a sublist to discuss because there are so many of them of so many types, but here there is a limited number and they could easily be kept together. There are numerous articles in Category:Lists of monarchs, but this is a single list that need not be split. Reywas92Talk 01:09, 25 February 2010 (UTC)

Amended acts of succession

In the waning days of the twentieth century, [...] the Netherlands amended their acts of succession to primogeniture with no preference as to sex.

As for the Netherlands, it has been ruled be queens since 1879, well before "the waning days of the twentieth century". If I'm not mistaken, the right of succession of the first-born, regardless of sex, has been in the constitution since its inception in 1815 and therefore no amendement was needed.SavannahD (talk) 23:21, 11 April 2010 (UTC)

Actually, you are mistaken :) Prior to 1983, the eldest child who happened to be female was heiress only if she had no legitimate brothers. In other words, when the monarch's firstborn was a daughter and the monarch's younger child was male, the son (although younger) was the heir apparent. Had William III had a son after Wilhelmina, she wouldn't have succeeded her father. The system was the same as the one used in the UK today (and which will hopefully be used forever). Surtsicna (talk) 19:31, 12 April 2010 (UTC)

The phrase "In the waning days of the twentieth century" has got to go! As soon as the specific dates are found for when these changes were made. Senator2029talk 13:35, 12 December 2011 (UTC)

Current queens regnant

The table in this section has a column titled "date." To what does this refer? Date of coronation, birth...? 216.82.251.232 (talk) 14:52, 20 December 2011 (UTC)

Date of accession. Only Liz was crowned and that wasn't until the following year. Favonian (talk) 15:00, 20 December 2011 (UTC)

Dowager Queen

Should there be a brief reference to that also? --Patbahn (talk) 19:00, 27 August 2015 (UTC)

Not only title of a reigning female monarch

Like in the article of king the title queen regnant is defined with a sentance that makes it sound like it is the only title for a female monarch. I have been trying to find a suitable sentance to underline that queen regnant can be one of many titles for a monarch but I seem to find no suiting wording since I have been told off and reverted for carrying out grammatically bad and "destructive" editing regarding this.

Thus I hope others with better english skills pay attention to this problem and find a better approach and clear out this wording that makes it sound like queen regnants are the only female monarchs. Nsae Comp (talk) 12:11, 26 August 2019 (UTC)
