Fair use rationale for Image:Rff.gif[edit]

Image:Rff.gif is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

"stopping losses"[edit]

>>Another criticism is that RFF's policy of stopping losses...<<

What is meant by "stopping losses" here? The use of italics suggests some special meaning, but it is not clear what it is. (Unsourced "criticisms" should probably not be included in the article anyway.) -- Picapica (talk) 12:39, 22 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

SNCF or RFF responsible for railway network maintenance?[edit]

  • the SNCF article says: "SNCF Infra is the infrastructure division of SNCF, and carries out track and other infrastructure maintenance"
  • the RFF article says: "RFF owns and maintains the French national railway network."

I see a clear contradiction here. Anyone who knows it better? SasBro (talk) 13:14, 21 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

RFF was the owner of the infrastructure assets, but they subcontracted the actual maintenance work to SNCF Infra. It looks like both statements were factually accurate; RFF owned and maintained (in the sense of managing) the network while SNCF infra carried out the actual maintenance. All of this is no longer true as of January 1st of this year, RFF has been reintegrated into SNCF as the result of a rail reform law passed last year. The French wiki RFF article has been updated to reflect this. Vrac (talk) 15:50, 21 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
