Coture changed "genera" to "generations". This was a mistake "genera" is the plural of the taxonomic term "genus", the level of classification above species. I have expanded the article to include an example of R-factor transfer at an even higher taxonomic level, that of the family.

I rewrote the lead based on the Campbell textbook because I found the organization of the original lead difficult to follow. I also added some relevant details that were missing from the original lead. Artsyscientist (talk) 14:02, 29 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I think you have also removed some relevant details from the lead in Special:Diff/1036096932. Just leaving a TODO here -- without an idea how the merge will go I cannot properly write it in. Artoria2e5 🌉 09:07, 17 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed merge of Plasmid-mediated resistance with R-factor

[edit]

Different facets of same topic that cannot really be separated. Not sure about which one to merge to though: R-f name is common in intro textbooks and old research while P-m r name is more common in current research. (On the Wikidata side I guess R-f is preferable since it has more interwiki links. But P-m r article has a better structure and all that.) Artoria2e5 🌉 09:04, 17 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Support, suggesting a merge to Plasmid-mediated resistance, which I think is the slightly broader topic. That is, R-factors are the mechanism by which Plasmid-mediated resistance is mediated. Klbrain (talk) 11:40, 26 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
