Re-classification

[edit]

The following text has been moved here from the main article - there may be suitable content in it, but it is too opinionated as written and the citation (this one [1]) was in the submission comment:- PeterEastern (talk) 17:00, 4 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The justification for using the term "former RAF base" by Broadland District Council to re-classify the land from it's "greenfield" status to "brownfield" in order to satisfy Government restrictions on the useage of "greenfield" land for property speculation, is a highly contentious and devisive one, as the site was only used by the USAAF from 1943 to 1945, fueling the charge of opportunist manipulation of the legislation for an elitist gain.
A huge groundswell of local residents opposed to what they see as wholesale desecration of prime agricultural land in a time of global warming, that even the UK Government has advised could lead to the very real possibility of global food shortages, is nothing short of ill considered municipal vandalism by those who seek power by elite theory and bypassing local democracy and the social contract.
