thank you for looking at biographical page of Prof. Raghavendra Gadakar.

even in Wikipedia, if you search for Gadagkar, you will find many citations. Prof. Gadagkar is well known scientist at the Centre for Ecological Sciences, Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore.

i am just trying to tell wiki readers about him.

as suggested in notability guidelines, he has many published articles, at least two books, etc. he is notable.

If you could rewrite that information into the article, it would be quite useful as it would resolve both the {{nocontent}} problem and the lack of notability assertion. Of course, a simple way to figure out how to create an article is to find a well developed article on a scientist or professor that already exists on Wikipedia and use it as a guide as you edit.

COI tag[edit]

I have added a COI tag to the article. The licence file for image of the subject, Image:RaghavendraGadagkar.jpg[1], gives the author of the image as "Author=Wachak Prof. Raghavendra Gadagkar". If that is correct, then User:Wachak and the subject of the article are the same person and the COI tag is appropriate. If the licence info is incorrect, then the image is a copyvio, and also a violation of WP:NFC, which specifies that non-free images of living people should not be used in articles about them; fair use does not apply to such cases. need help[edit]

i have confirmed with Raghavendra Gadagkar that the image given by him on his web site is in public domain. Raghavendra Gadagkar and wachak (i.e. me) are different people. i need help stating it more correctly. -wachak wachak (talk) Wachak (talk) 11:40, 4 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

First, regarding the copyright issue. There is a specific process that needs to be followed for the copyright permission to be given, and it is not enough for you to get such permission from Raghavendra Gadagkar yourself. The details are explained at Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. Basically, Raghavendra Gadagkar would either have to post a notice directly at his website, where the photograph is, confirming that the image has been released into public domain, or else he would need to send an e-mail to that effect directly to the Wikimedia Foundation. Regarding COI, thank you for the clarification. Let me note however that if you have a close relationship to the subject of the article (e.g. if you are his student, postdoc or a close colleage), a COI tag is still appropriate, see WP:COI.
