Discussion on if Mashelkar should be included in the Scientific misconduct category[edit]

Mashelkar is alleged to have committed plagiarism on multiple occasions. There is strong evidence to support this claim. See these two links for the paragraphs in both his report and book that appear to have been lifted almost in entirety without acknowledgement, which would satisfy the generally agreed definition of plagiarism. See the wikipedia article for more. Plagiarism is a form of scientific misconduct, and therefore including the category on the page is appropriate and warranted.

To Patupod: Remember that I am not using a newspaper article to substantiate this claim, so the facts here are undisputed. As for Shamnaad Basheer, in the same comment, in the previous sentence he says of Dutfield, "...Its unfortunate that his paper has been plagiarised. ...", so Basheer is not denying it either, contrary to what you said.

Please do not undo the change to the article, unless you can show a convincing argument otherwise, and please include that argument here in the talk page.

Tone[edit]

This whole article sounds like a hymn. For instance what the heck is this: "[...] Mashelkar is a world-renowned leader in science and technology"? Leaders in science and technology used to be countries, not people. And that lengthy list of totally unknown niche awards and memberships reminds one of soviet potentates decorating themselves from toe to ear. Brezhnyev even had 'Hero City' and 'Hero Mother'. 82.141.158.14 (talk) 17:25, 22 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I agree. The article is written to glorify Mashelkar. I have added the appropriate tags. Nishkid64 (talk) 06:37, 23 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The statement that Mashelkar is a world renowned leader in science and technology has been removed. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Jaybal71 (talkcontribs) 13:09, 4 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The original version of the article has been brought back to restore the neutrality of the article. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Jaybal71 (talkcontribs) 14:47, 4 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Probably the lectures and awards list can be removed from this page. δευ talk 16:07, 19 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Is User:Jabal71 related to Mashelkar? Or is he Mashelkar?

Dispute about the section 'Original contributions to scientific and industrial research'[edit]

I find that the contributions of this person are written in too much detail without citing any authentic secondary sources. It seems completely unncecessary to include such fine details on this page. Also, the phrases like 'path-breaking contributions' and 'the first time ever' show a lack of objective description of his contributions to science. I would like an expert in this field to clean-up this particular section.

As no sources are cited, it is not a cleanup that is required, but deletion. Chemical Engineer (talk) 15:53, 29 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Link to Mashelkar's personal website[edit]

Hi everyone! I was searching for Mashelkar's article and found that he has launched his personal website (www.mashelkar.com). Looks like SEO has not been done for the site as it doesn't appear in the top search results. I think we can place an 'external link' to his website on this article so that interested people can go see his works, articles, speeches etc. I don't know how to do this. Can someone help? Thanks! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 45.114.61.102 (talk) 20:44, 10 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Already Mashelkar is a self promoter of first order and hence it is not a good idea to link his site to Wiki article.117.254.182.144 (talk) 11:39, 28 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
