Amesquita or Amézola[edit]

Amesquita's name is variously spelt (and Amézola is one variation), but Amesquita is how he appears in the Spanish language version of Wikipedia, and in the main Wiki article for him in the English version. Thomas Peardew (talk) 07:40, 3 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Battle of Cornwall?[edit]

There are no primary sources that name this as the Battle of Cornwall. There was a mere skirmish on a beach near Penzance. Most sources use the 'Raid on Mounts Bay', 'Spanish raid on Mounts Bay' or the 'Attack on Mounts Bay'. I will change this if there are any objections? Hi Eastfarthingan. First of all, my congrats for your hard work on articles related to the Anglo-Spanish War (1585-1604). I agree on the renaming of the article, since there was no major oposition or resistance by the English. My only observation, however, is the action on the beach. I didn't know about that until your citation of Cruickshank's book. I think we're talking about a real battle, (which even involved a flanking maneuver by the Spaniards) no matter how brief or lopsided it was. So I am for the change, but introducing a sub-header into the "Landings" section under the name "battle at Penzance". Let me know what you think about.
