Double track?

[edit]

Iron Ore railways usually use huge train of perhaps 20,000t of ore. The number of trains per day tends to be small and workable on single track. The super heavy Pilbara Railways is still largely single track except for sections of adverse gradients and this after 40 years of operation, and they carry 100 million tonnes per annum.
