When was it named

[edit]

Do any of the reference say when Raine Square was so named? I'd like to include a date (or at least year) in the last paragraph of Mary Raine:

Raine instructed that none of the money she left was be used for a building or monument in her or Joe's name, but the Raine Medical Research Foundation carries their name. Later,[when?] Raine Square in Perth's central business district was named after them.[1]

aerial photo of 1988 shows the original square... see http://purl.slwa.wa.gov.au/slwa_b3379906_1 - that was the real square before the high rise
photo from 1997 or later shows http://trove.nla.gov.au/picture/result?q=subject%3A%2228a+Raine+Square+%28Perth%2C+W.A.%29+--+Photographs.%22 - a numbered property as part of the square

entry on royal hotel

[edit]

Register of Heritage Places - Assessment Doc’n Royal Hotel 725/08/2000

Their [Hames Sharley's] solution was a multi-faceted one - the keystone being the rehabilitation of the hotels to two and three star level and the direction of the pedestrian traffic from the city through the site to the Perth Bus Station.28 The works took place in 1984 and the entire place was renamed Raine Square.Work proposed finally to Royal Hotel involved minimum refurbishment to thefacades except as essential for repair, alterations at ground level and changes to the facade and street awning for the entrance to the arcade and the retail outlets alongthe William Street frontage. An arcade was constructed to link the street frontage to the piazza at the rear. Rear of building [has been] refurbished.29 The redeveloped site was officially opened on 4 June 1986
