Ram's Head Device is not an authorized Army badge, or is it?[edit]

All, there is a particular unknown user that keeps removing the fact that the Ram's Head Device is an Army National Guard award that is not recognized by the U.S. Army and never sites any reference that would justify their actions. The most recent information I have on this is early 2011 which states that the Ram's Head is not authorized for wear by Active Duty Army and Army Reserve members, only Army National Guard members that are not on active duty (not operating under Title 10). [1] [2]

If the unknown user in question, or anyone else, has new information that recognizes the Ram's Head Devise as an authorized badge of the U.S. Army, please let me know or link the appropriate reference(s) to this article. --McChizzle (talk) 13:15, 15 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I don't believe they have any new information, but they keep changing the article. I'm going to revert the article back to a much earlier version and then just keep reverting any further changes unless they can explain themselves here -Atfyfe (talk)
Cool; thanks "brother." By the way, they are at it again. It may take time to get this page back to an academic standard. --McChizzle (talk) 23:46, 20 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Atfyfe, thank you for taking on this task. The user in question has become so upset over my edits to his mods. on this page that the user has begun vandalizing my user page. Hopefully, you will have better luck than I. -McChizzle (talk) 00:54, 23 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I've requested semi-protected status for this article. Hopefully that ends the problem. -Atfyfe (talk) 03:58, 23 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
It's hard to figure out which states allow the badge and which do not, since the individual state NG regs are not as easily to find as the big army regs. Outside the states where it is authorized, whether the badge is allowed would be up to an individual commander. We probably can't cite this, but it might be helpful for me to post it here since it mentions some of the places that perhaps allow it statewide. From someone who has the badge on a millitary.com forum about the mountain warfare school: "As far as wearing the rams head...I've been in 3-172 IN for a bit now, every once and a while a CSM or 1SG not in the know will get a hair across his #$% and grill you about it when you have it on outside of VT, NH, or ME. Usually about the time when you tell them you can wear a badge but they cannot...but even at most AD posts and schools people are more interested in the school, the 86th BDE patch with the mountain tab (because only 10th MTN wears a MTN tab right?), and rams head device than anything else because they have never heard about it." - Atfyfe (talk) 22:33, 30 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Massachusetts ARNG allows the wear of awards from other states. Other than precedence, it's about that vague. TAGMA PAM 600-8-22 isn't easily Googled. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 208.99.255.9 (talk) 16:20, 1 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

There's many ways to cite a source[edit]

Afyfe, There are many ways we can cite information. I want to help, but I will need to learn how you gained the knowledge about the change in awarding criteria for the Ram's Head Device. --McChizzle (talk) 10:50, 7 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

It's been a while since I saw that bit of information. I'll see if I can't dig it up again. - Atfyfe (talk) 16:44, 7 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
From what I understand, the school was made one-phase after TRADOC made it an official army school. Too difficult to send soldiers to a school twice in order to graduate. But while I can find numerous places where people are posting about how the school is now one phase, I don't have anything better to cite than that. Here's the sort of thing I can find: http://forums.military.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/3321924461/m/2790086481001
