Former and current hotels[edit]

I was unable to find any information about the former hotel; however, I do see that there is a currently operating restaurant by the name of Ram's Head Inn. The restuarant's site doesn't mention Ram's Island by name, but rather describes its location as Mystic Island (though on the map it's clear that Ram's Island refers to a causeway-connected peninsula on the edge of shelter island). I couldn't verify the information about the Ragsdale family. Further information is appreciated. OhNoitsJamie Talk 15:43, 26 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

There is no restaurant on the island. The island is completely privately owned and consists only of a house and out buildings. The previous owner of the island operated a small motel that catered to people traveling through the area by boat. This motel is different than the hotel mentioned in the article. The former hotel was completely destroyed during the hurricane of 1938. (Rhvanwinkle (talk) 22:16, 8 September 2008 (UTC))[reply]

Wrong Coordinates and Info Confirmation[edit]

The coordinates listed are wrong, they are for New Haven, Connecticut. The actual Ram Island is located near New London, Stonington, and Groton, about 2 miles offcoast from Connecticut. Also, here are a couple of articles that mention both Ram Island:

Incorrect name for the island[edit]

The proper name for the island is Ram Island not Ram's Island. (Rhvanwinkle (talk) 15:54, 17 September 2008 (UTC))[reply]

  • Support. External links above and in the article confirm the name. Also move Ram's Island, Northern Ireland to Ram's Island. The DAB hatnotes will take care of any possible confusion. — AjaxSmack 05:55, 19 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • Agree that the name is "Ram Island", but there already is at least one article that could also have the same name, Ram Island (Tasmania) and other articles with titles that could easily be confused. No argument for primary topic has been made. Suggest moving to Ram Island (Connecticut) and leave Ram Island as a disambiguation page. There are at least 48 other places named Ram Island in the U.S. alone. olderwiser 10:22, 19 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
