Suggest a little uncertainty[edit]

There are problems with the Rarotonga hotspot hypothesis that were not brought out well in this article as written, even if acknowledged in the small print. When science is not yet all consistent it is best in my view not to be absolutely definitive. A source for the volcanism certainly exists, but how it contributed to both Aitutaki and Rarotonga, or one or the other or neither not clear in the mess that is the highway. There has been some recent work around Samoa that resulted in a reassignment of a seamount between postulated hot spot track. More relevant to the Rarotonga hot spot hypothesis is that there might be more than two volcanoes to assign on composition data or composition data has got very messy -see Wei 2022 ChaseKiwi (talk) 02:11, 5 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, I think that's a good idea. However, when using multi-page sources it is better to use a sfn template instead of the ref tag. Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk) 20:33, 5 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
