Concern over the quote "the best President we never had"

[edit]

Right now, there is no verifiable proof posted stating that a Filipino columnist did proclaim Raul Manglapus as "the best President we never had".

I had this concern when I came across this Yahoo! Answers question about who was the columnist that called Manglapus as such. The best answer said it was Rafael Salas and provided a link to a Manila Bulletin article about it. The actual link is already dead; however, I found a similar link from Manila Bulletin which revealed that it was actually former President Fidel V. Ramos who wrote the article AND Rafael Salas was the one referred to in the article by Ramos as the "best President we never had".

That particular Yahoo! Answers question was even more distressing when it stated that this was intended for a wiki article on a separate site. Thus, it appears that misinformation might have taken place here, and found its way in the Wikipedia site.

Now I can see someone stating here that it was actually Amando Doronila who said it. But there's no source provided linking him to it, and my own research didn't provide any information on Doronila stating those words about Manglapus. I have nothing against Mr. Manglapus; in fact, I kinda like his story. But unless if there's any verifiable proof of this, we should not include that quote in this article. The Mask (talk) 15:41, 11 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I remember Primitivo Mijares saying such, but he is referring to Arsenio Lacson. Meanwhile, in Kasaysayan: History of the Filipino Peeople, Manglapus was said to be the prophet without a machine. Arius1998 (talk) 12:55, 5 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
