Rayleigh Station Masters House[edit]

My school friends the Moulds family lived here and their father was the Station Master for Rayleigh Station. Sadly, all but their father perished in a tragic fire in Douglas Isle of Man in August 1973. I remember when I use to visit them at the house their father loved his garden and was always pottering around in it when he wasn't working. It would be wonderful if the Railway would place a memorial plaque on the wall in remembrance of this lovely family who died so tragically during a summer holiday to the isle of Man. 2.101.209.55 (talk) 00:16, 2 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

What would you like Wikipedia to do about that? Mattdaviesfsic (talk) 05:11, 2 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Amanda and Debra were my friends, we all use to go to Glebe Junior school and Beverley was at Sweyne Comprehensive. 2A00:23CC:B48B:2001:B4A4:44B9:CEED:DE50 (talk) 13:20, 4 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I use to visit them at home, in the big old station masters house where their mum would often be in the kitchen while we sat upstairs in the twins bedroom looking at Donny Osmond and David Cassidy pictures from the weekly magazine Jackie.
I remember the adults talking about the tradgedy at the time, whispering so I wouldn't hear. When we went back to Glebe School in the September, again us children were kept in the dark and I can remember some of our parents, together with teachers going to the memorial service at the big church at the top of London Hill, while us children were left in class to read and amuse ourselves while the adults went to pay their respects. I remember just sitting there at my desk with all the noise from the rest of the class going through me. I was in mourning for my friends and in shock for the loss of them and their family and what had happened but back then you didn't get councelling or the help needed to grieve. Children were still pretty much seen and not heard.
Sitting in that classroom on the day of the menorial taught me just how fragile life is and no matter what happens, life goes on as normalfor others, while you grieve in silence 2A00:23CC:B48B:2001:B4A4:44B9:CEED:DE50 (talk) 13:36, 4 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
