RTGS?

[edit]

Could someone check both articles 1 & 2 to clarify, source & reduce that obscure "Real Time Gross Settlement dollar" (RTGS) wording? I still can't find its background. BTW, a reduction as UNDUE is expected. DePiep (talk) 06:16, 18 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@DePiep: I think I resolved that in the history section: now I think we need a good exchange rate history table for all the incarnations of the dollar. --Minoa (talk) 01:46, 19 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Minoa: I don’t think we’re going to hear from @DePiep anytime soon. He is apparently been site banned. Hurricane Clyde 🌀my talk page! 23:44, 15 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I think the non-free rationale can be removed

If I’m not mistaken, Zimbabwe copyright law states that when the banknotes (of the Zimbabwe dollar) are demonetized; the designs enter the public domain. 2601:5C5:4201:68B0:8D33:6C67:6107:2135 (talk) 20:40, 23 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not aware of any such law existing (of course, I know very little about Zimbabwean laws). Are you able to provide a link to that law? - ZLEA T\C 23:50, 15 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I was the one who originally put the above IP statement (it was before I registered); and it’s based on Section 50 of the Zimbabwe Copyright Act (Chapter 26:1) that says that all demonetized banknotes are considered public domain. Of course this probably isn’t the right place to ask the question; so I’ve brought up the issue on the Commons village pump; as of this writing, i have yet to receive a response.
As for a link: it is conveniently available on the PD template for Zimbabwean currency: http://www.wipo.int/edocs/lexdocs/laws/en/zw/zw001en.pdf Hurricane Clyde 🌀my talk page! 17:47, 23 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Whether or not I’m actually supposed to quote this or not I don’t know; if not, feel free to post a warning on my talk page; but the relevant section says:
50. (1) Notwithstanding anything contained in Part II, copyright shall subsist in bank notes and coin issued by the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe in terms of the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe Act [Chapter 22:10], whether before, on or after the appointed date, which is legal tender in Zimbabwe and-
such copyright shall vest in the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe;
the term of such copyright shall be the period from the date on which such bank notes or coin are issued until such bank notes or coin are demonetized in terms of the said Act.
(2) Coins to which subsection (1) applies and the artistic work defining the design of any such coin shall, for the purposes of this Act and the Designs Act, not be considered to be designs. Hurricane Clyde 🌀my talk page! 17:51, 23 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
That is a direct quote from the Zimbabwe Copyright Act section 50. Going to ping @ZLEA to get their attention of my reply. Hurricane Clyde 🌀my talk page! 17:52, 23 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The relevant license tag would be {{PD-ZW-currency}}. Hurricane Clyde 🌀my talk page! 18:06, 23 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
But if I were you @ZLEA, I would hold off on changing any tags on there until we get an answer from the Commons village pump. Since I’ve already raised the issue there too. Hurricane Clyde 🌀my talk page! 18:07, 23 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I try not to mess with currency license tags anyway, unless of course they are clear copyright violations. - ZLEA T\C 19:35, 23 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
