The Accent[edit]

The British band The Accent probably deserve an article for this one single and video alone, the single got a lot of airplay in Australia (I'd be surprised if it didn't chart here, still checking that) and the video now has a cult following, although the single didn't chart in the UK or US at the time apparently.

I can find no record of the single charting. The relevant charts are probably Go-Set, as it's before the ARIA Charts or their predecessor the Kent Music Report started. But the Go-Set charts are almost all online (there are a few gaps) and no mention of The Accent or Red Sky at Night.

There were also daily and weekly top 40 charts at this time compiled by individual radio stations. I suspect it would have charted in those.

See https://www.headheritage.co.uk/unsung/review/1754/ for some fascinating background. I just archived it here in case that link dies. Definitely encyclopedic, but sourcing it may be a challenge. Andrewa (talk) 20:44, 24 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
