reggae en espanol and reggaeton are two different genres, Reggae en Espanol is a subgenre of Reggae just like latin hip hop is a subgenre of hip hop, and neither two of those are synonymous with reggaeton, Reggaeton is a music genre derived from reggae en espanol, however it has adopted so many different elements from genres such as techno, merengue and house music, which makes reggaeton independent from spanish reggae or dancehall. please study the sources for more information El Perso - The Original (talk) 21:51, 10 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hello partners, God Bless you!, as you seen, I colaborated a lot on the spanish version of this article, but I'm not good very much in english, can anyone who know the spanish/english lang to translate this from mine article ??. there are a lot of refs!. so I have in the spanish wikipedia more Reggae in spanish artists which can be translate in english. =) a big hug from Panama, "Saludos"! Style and Timeline[edit]

Hey Muffinchild, thanks for the good start. I made some corrections to the style of the english of the first generation section. However, we need a clear timeline of things like dates of the first appearances of each singer (maybe the dates when the hits where out in the radio?). A better timeline would give a better idea of how things actually happened. Also, the second generation part isquite unorganized and it is very confusing. I think a good start is to create and article in es.wikipedia.com and I can translate it to english. --WikiDrive (talk) 03:29, 20 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Can I make a suggestion? Since the article is written in English, the title should be written in English as well: Reggae in Spanish, rather than Reggae en Espanol. Yes, the reader will know what is meant either way, and yes, a translation has been provided. But this is an example of creeping Spanglish. Spanish is a great language. So is English. Let's not dilute either one. Reggae in Spanish for the English article, Reggae en Espanol for the Spanish one. Notions of linguistic purity or the appropriateness of translation cannot supercede WP:COMMONNAME. How is this genre most often referred to by English speakers? “reggae en español,” “Spanish reggae,” “Spanish-language reggae,” “reggae in Spanish?” etc. And if, indeed, it is not differentiated musically from reggae sung in other languages, perhaps it’s not a genre and should simply be described in English. —Wiki Wikardo 22:34, 16 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
