Roman Catholic an Eastern Orthodox Churches

[edit]

The article should also mention the notion of calling in Roman Catholic and Eastern Orthodox Churches, a term that is used to refer to priestly vocations. ADM (talk) 18:54, 6 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I think vocation, linked in the first line, covers that. Johnbod (talk) 21:07, 6 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Protestant

[edit]

Protestantism is a more prominent and general faith. It's more prominent and general use of "calling" should come first. --Carlaude (talk) 03:52, 7 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed, and the OED cites back to 1560, so the virtually, or wholly, identical LDS meaning is not the earliest either. In fact (OED 6) very similar usage in a Catholic context is cited back to c1300. I have changed the order backJohnbod (talk) 04:05, 7 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Funny subject

Need secondary and non-biased, reliable sources that are arguable through multiple dimensions. At least a solid backup from good authorities. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 61.1.202.13 (talk) 15:47, 21 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
