Impact section

[edit]

I don't think the impact section is really needed. Especially when it never mentions the "impact" Rema had with his music. All the section repeatedly says is that Rema is a commercially successful artist, but that does not require an unnecessarily lengthy section named “impact”. Him being a representation of nowadays Afrobeats success doesn't imply to have an impact, in any way DollysOnMyMind (talk) 10:08, 4 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

His music impact was discussed, This [1] described his sprawling music influence and Rolling Stone credited his music for making Afrobeats more global. you can reshape it if you want. But I swear, I'm really not a fan of his. and I don't even think anything sounds fan-ish in that section, cuz they're all written per those outlets words. You can check for confirmation. The GQ source you just provided is non-existent. For the matter, I repeat: Him being a representation of nowadays Afrobeats success doesn't imply to have an impact, in any way , that's what the “outlets” say. Impact implies influence.DollysOnMyMind (talk) 11:23, 8 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The article exists, shift to another browser. So in your own opinion, reliable outlets saying he's impactful means nothing. When would be worth something then? Yotrages (talk) 20:04, 8 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
You don't seem to understand my point. Take a second look at it DollysOnMyMind (talk) 19:24, 8 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Okay I don't really get your point, so I don't get what should be done. Since you put the template there, you sure know what's wrong. So you can make the amendment, just remove the fan thing cuz it doesn't sound like one. Yotrages (talk) 10:20, 9 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The whole section is problematic DollysOnMyMind (talk) 12:41, 9 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Ask for other more experienced editors opinion, before assuming the whole section is problematic. Point out qoutes that aren't correct in it, cuz I can't find any. If you can't find any that means you don't have any tangible reason to put that template there, so i can remove it per WP:NPOV. Yotrages (talk) 19:41, 9 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I repeat: Him being a representation of nowadays Afrobeats success doesn't imply to have an impact, in any way DollysOnMyMind (talk) 20:30, 9 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
But those outlets documents his impact, and you can't judge that. You're arguing with no fact, as a Wikipedian our job is to write reliably sourced content, that's well covered. Your opinion on whether he should have an impact or not is not your say, cuz he already had it per those source. Yotrages (talk) 13:50, 10 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Give me one single statement about impact out of those sources, if you won't I will blank the section DollysOnMyMind (talk) 13:27, 10 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Rema's impact on Afrobeats and Nigeria has been praised by outlets. Should this fact have its own section in the article. Yotrages talk 19:37, 10 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Yes. Rema's impact has received extensive press coverage for taking and elevating more globally. His influence has also been noted.
  1. Leadership credited Rema for breaking barriers for African artists with his music. [2]
  2. Punch cited Rema as a trailblazer for his music sound. [3]
  3. Business Day noted Rema's influence on Nigeria and global music landscape. [4] Yotrages (talk) 19:37, 10 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
No none of the sources provided describe him having an impact. They describe how Rema is a commercially successful artist, but that does not require a lengthy section named “impact”. DollysOnMyMind (talk) 20:51, 10 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
