"The band sold well in Mexico, Canada, Japan, the United Kingdom and locally in California..." – the Mexico and California parts of the statement are believable, but as far as the rest is concerned, this is very dubious... certainly growing up in the UK in the 1980s, the band were never, ever played on BBC Radio 1, the only outlet for pop and rock music at the time. Seeing as they don't appear to have charted anywhere in the world, the claims of 30 million sales seems to be an exaggeration... and you'll forgive me if I don't take a grainy YouTube video of that well known authority on music sales, David Hasselhoff, reading from a piece of paper as evidence of those sales. Wow, this seems completely and objectively wrong. Renegade were formed in the 1980s, but performers like Richie Valens, Santana, War, Sir Douglas Quintet, The Champs, etc were performing Latin or Chicano rock decades earlier. @Richard3120:It should say "first heavy metal Hispanic or Chicano rock band..." You're correct that there were plenty Latin performers long before Renegade, but none in the heavy metal genre. El Chicano made a mark as a Chicano "rock" band, but never identified as heavy metal. Thoughts? --Warriorboy85 (talk) 06:36, 10 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
