Wikipedia Spamming
[edit]Prism Media has been involved in a mass Wikipedia link spam campaign since 2005. See User_talk:65.166.218.250 for a detailed account of their exploits. The big question is how many more link spammed Prism domains and user aliases are still waiting to be found on Wikipedia? My guess is thousands. Should this information be placed on the main Primedia page? I recommend black listing for all Primedia wiki links. (Requestion 18:58, 16 February 2007 (UTC))
- No, it should not be in the Primedia article since Prism has not been part of Primedia since 2005-08[1]. Since the two separated long ago, what guilt do you assign to Primedia that causes you to recommend punishing them? —RandallJones 03:11, 17 February 2007 (UTC)
- I thought they were the same company. Thank you for the business separation info, I'll check it out. The Electronic Musician (emusician.com) magazine is listed on Primedia's wiki page and it was one of the heavily spammed links reported at Talk:Penton_Media. The Electronic Musician page also says they are owned by Primedia. So I assumed they were the same company. Maybe there is a mistake or mix up somewhere. Let me correct my previous statement: I recommend black listing for all Prism Media wiki links listed on the Talk:Penton_Media page. (Requestion 04:14, 17 February 2007 (UTC))
- Thanks for taking care not to incautiously lump them together. Since Prism's titles were Primedia's not so long ago, there may well be some in the list. —RandallJones 08:24, 17 February 2007 (UTC)
- I have removed the Electronic Musician link because is it now owned by Prism Business Media which is in fact Penton Media. Hopefully this will prevent any future confusion. I have checked the spam contribution logs and it appears that all of the Prism Media link spam occurred after Primedia sold the business unit in August 2005. I retract all link spam claims I made against Primedia. Sorry to be a bother. (Requestion 21:43, 17 February 2007 (UTC))
