'Repeat previous bar(s)' symbol

[edit]

Might be a good idea to describe the 'repeat previous bar(s)' symbol here (the one that kindof looks like a % sign), or add a reference to a page describing it.

I found a neat image explaining the repeat with endings too, found here: [1] --user:Yuletide 19:41, 8 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

That is a good image, but it's probably copyrighted. Rigadoun (talk) 20:28, 8 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Requested move

[edit]

I requested this move as it is a more formal name for the sign, and will allow us to make repeat a disambiguation page with the content on the top and bottom of this page which isn't related to the sign. Rigadoun (talk) 18:11, 3 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The dab can be Repetition (disambiguation); multiple small dabs covering the same ground are a nuisance. Septentrionalis PMAnderson 01:38, 4 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Perhaps repeat can redirect to Repetition (disambiguation), which would then add those items called "repeat" (sign, record label, rerun, etc.)? Rigadoun (talk) 17:05, 5 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
This article has been renamed from repeat to repeat sign as the result of a move request. I haven't merged the two disambiguation pages together, although that could be done if desired. --Stemonitis 13:41, 9 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Second endings on DS al coda

[edit]

What is the "rule" for taking the second ending after a repeat on a DS al Coda? Do you repeat both times (first and second endings) or just take the second one? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.109.129.226 (talk) 00:41, 19 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I believe ordinarily the material is not repeated the second time, and only the second ending is used. Rigadoun (talk) 17:43, 20 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Additional citations

[edit]

Why and where does this article need additional citations for verification? What references does it need and how should they be added? Hyacinth (talk) 23:12, 3 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Is it a square?

[edit]

I am not sure what might be wrong, but I am certain that my keyboard does not have the language properties to show this sign. This article is incomplete unless a jpeg file of the symbol is supplied, one cannot assume everyone has the correct keyboard setting to show it. This is quite awful for me at this time, as I need to finish a piece of sheet music and I can't determine if it needs a coda sign, a repeat sign, or dal segno. I would indeed supply it if I could somehow manufacture one, but no clue what it looks like. --Molokaicreeper (talk) 22:43, 11 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Other repeat signs

[edit]

What about the repeat last bar/x previous bars sign? Would they also belong in this article? The ones that look like a "%"
