Removed the "Restaurant Makeover has shot two seasons to date and begins shooting its third season early 2006 with Robin De Groot, Lynn Crawford and the rest of the RMO gang." bit since it is no longer relevant. Just curious, does Wikipedia accept especially cynical blogs as valid sources now? The article in question is hosted on the "blogs" portion of Maclean's website, as it only mentions the failure of a single restaurant that was featured on the show. --216.232.183.33 (talk) 12:18, 16 January 2009 (UTC)

Reminders

Just a couple of reminders to everyone regarding this article:

1. Firstly, offsite links to restaurants' own web pages are not acceptable; if the restaurant doesn't qualify for its own article on Wikipedia, then its name in this article doesn't get to be a link to anything at all.
2. Secondly, we do not rely on personal knowledge regarding whether a restaurant is open or closed or renamed or sold to different owners than it had at the time of its appearance on this show or whatnot. Unless you can add reliable sources about the restaurant itself, which explicitly confirm that participating in RM was considered a factor in the restaurant's failure, then for the purposes of this article we simply don't care whether the restaurant is alive or dead or trapped in some sort of design limbo. Wikipedia is a neutral reference site, not a forum for expressing your personal opinions about how Glen and Massimo ruined your favourite little bistro.

Restaurants close all the time for all kinds of reasons. Just because a restaurant was on RM and then later closed does not necessarily mean that RM was responsible for the closure — remember, correlation does not imply causation. And I'm saying this as a person who's frequently eaten at the Church St. Diner — probably the show's single most famous reno conflict, ever — so I'm hardly biased in the show's favour (although I should probably also acknowledge that the one other place I go to sometimes which has also gotten the Restaurant Makeover treatment is still going quite strong.) But Wikipedia simply isn't the place for grinding axes like this — if you think it's important to note a particular restaurant's status as a victim of a purported "Restaurant Makeover curse", then find a real reliable source which explicitly states that Restaurant Makeover killed the place or forget it.
