== 2015 Version? == There doesn't seem to be a 2015 election version of this page. Anyone want to make one or know where all the equivilent information is in one place to make one?

New Column?[edit]

At Talk:Opinion polling in United Kingdom constituencies, 2010-5 there is discussion about helping people wanting to "research the opinion polling in comparison to the different areas of the United Kingdom", which is difficult to achieve with that page. Given that researching comparisons between constituencies in different areas of the UK is surely part of the purpose of this page, would it be OK to add a column in which there is a link to the appropriate listing at Opinion polling in United Kingdom constituencies, 2010-5? @DrArsenal: - I don't think that it would be a good idea as these opinion polls have nothing to do with the 2010 election results. Why would any reader come to this article to get opinion poll results for the 2015 election? Wouldn't it be better to have some kind of list or table on the Opinion polling in United Kingdom constituencies, 2010-5 article itself? I have a experience in creating large tables so if you need assistance let me know. But before you do that, your discussion needs to agree on what information you want to include in the list/table.
Thanks User:Obi2canibe. I would disagree that they have 'nothing to do with the 2010 election results' - I would imagine that a high proportion of those looking at this page over the next 5 months will be trying to work out what might happen in the constituency in 2015, and the Opinion polling in United Kingdom constituencies, 2010-5 article provides important further information on that question. Certainly the data is not strictly within the scope of the title: it would be of a 'see also' type, but its better organised by having a 'see also' about a particular constituency next to the listing of that constituency.
A problem with having the entire list at Opinion polling in United Kingdom constituencies, 2010-15 is that to be useful it needs to be visible at the top of the article, but the size of the list means there would be a vast amount to scroll down before getting to the data that the article is there for, so putting it there on any wiki organisation I am aware of is very bad usability design. Your first point is correct but I doubt many people visit this article - anyone interested in the 2015 election opinion polls will more likely visit United Kingdom general election, 2015 and Opinion polling in United Kingdom constituencies, 2010-5. I have another suggestion - how about creating a navigation template - something similar to Template:Constituencies in London (but obviously expanded to include all UK constituencies). It could be placed at the bottom of United Kingdom general election, 2015 and the Opinion polling in United Kingdom constituencies, 2010-5 redirected to the template?--obi2canibetalk contr 21:06, 21 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Multiple errors on page, potentially chronic issues[edit]

I've just looked at the cited sources for this article (i.e. the two Electoral Commission spreadsheets), and the data in the article doesn't reflect the data in the spreadsheets. I don't know how widespread the errors are, but I compared the data for two constituencies - namely Sevenoaks and Somerset North - and they both contained multiple errors. For example, the size of the electorate in Somerset North is out by over 13,000!

I'm afraid I don't have time to make the edits myself given how long it would take to check each entry against the spreadsheets, but I figured I'd flag up the problem in case somebody knows how to copy the data across en masse or anything of that nature. Or, you know, if there's a template that can be added to the page to warn readers that there are problems on the page. As you can probably tell, I don't know too much about this stuff myself. I've added the tags, but in the same boat as you in not knowing where to start with election data from 2010. Hopefully the tags draw the needed attention. Unforgotten10 (talk) 08:47, 21 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
