French history stub[edit]

I've reverted the change of { {History-stub} } to { {France-history-stub} }. France doesn't make sense here. Maybe Spanish history or the Netherlands history, but neither seems right to me. The problem with the Netherlands is that this region is not in the current country of the Netherlands. Belgian history doesn't make sense either, as Belgium didn't exist yet. We could start a Flanders history stub class for the history of the region from the 13th century till 1830, everything related to Flanders (county), Burgundian Netherlands, Southern Netherlands, Austrian Netherlands and so on, I intend to see if this is possible. But maybe Flanders would be too limiting, so "Low Countries history" may be even better. Piet 10:44, 1 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The noose nickname[edit]

"Since then Ghent citizens informally call themselves "noose bearers"". This makes little sense. Are the citizens of Ghent actually proud of the way their ancestors were humiliated by Charles? Perhaps it is a derogatory name someone else applied to them? Anyway, we need a source here, so I'm adding a {cn}. Bazuz (talk) 13:15, 21 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Ghentians are proud that there ancestors stanood up against the Emperor. They failed, but at least they stood up. Paradoxically the Ghentians are also proud that the Emperor Charles was one of them, bron in Ghent.
