Image uploads and registration

Great pity wikimedia requires user login to upload photos. I made photos of Bekau the supposedly ever largest ship to travel this channel for the full lenght Holland to Romania. But I never ever register or log in anywhere. 195.70.32.136 16:42, 14 October 2005 (UTC)

Erm—why not? You don't have to supply your e-mail address or any personal information. —Caesura(t) 17:11, 11 November 2005 (UTC)

I would like a map showing the location of this canal. Conquest1980 22:57, 9 February 2006 (UTC)

Coordinates

The entrance is at 49°52'45.31"N, 10°54'32.60"E.

Europa Canal ???

I'm not very happy with this term. Because the canal is in Germany, I think the German name of Europakanal should be kept or the term omitted entirely. In any case, if this is an English term would it not be "Europe/European Canal"? 85.22.0.165 07:22, 19 July 2007 (UTC)

need more info...

So, we know the length.

What is the canal's depth, and the maximum length of the locks?

Here are some bits I pasted from German wiki for anyone sufficiently interested and fluent to convert into fast flowing English. I'm not sure how you'd translate succinctly Sparschleuse, but no doubt Mr Langenscheidt will have a Vorschlag dazu. Given more time, the whole German article could probably be usefully translated to En-wiki, apart from the bits that as far as I can see already have been...:

And here's the Google translation of the de.wiki page. The channel is 31 m wide at the bottom, 33 m wide at the surface, and 4 m deep; so the slope of the sides is 1:3. The largest ships that can be handled are 190 m long and 11.45 m wide. The actual size of the locks must be a bit bigger. 200 × 12 m?

Transport volume

I am sure that there is more recent data on transport volume available. Thus, I added the update template at the appropriate section. 86.32.232.94 (talk) 14:47, 25 May 2009 (UTC)
