Commons categories

[edit]

Just to note that I removed commons categories from this article as they aren't actually related to this article, they were general categories for the different types of wheel arrangements (which have an extensive category tree here, see Category:UIC classification). I would suggest creating a new Commons category at commons:Category:Rigid-framed electric locomotives and populating that with relevant subcategories/images. I don't know enough about this topic to do that myself, though (I'm happy to help - please ping me). Thanks. Mike Peel (talk) 08:23, 27 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Why is there a section on steam locos?

[edit]

This is about electric locos 180.219.9.217 (talk) 07:36, 27 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Why shouldn't there be? Electric locos don't exist in isolation. There was a prior art of other (steam) locos before them, there were diesel locos later on. These things estalish a context about how 'locomotives' were built from common practice at the time. What becomes interesting is how electric locos change that, or don't, and why decisions to change such things are forced upon them by the different technologies.
