Solti 1964, Gavazzeni 69?

[edit]

The recordings of Solti 1964, Gavazzeni 69 seem to have been deleted. What was the reason for this? This is, of course, not a 'selected' discography. --Kleinzach 23:46, 31 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

OK. Now corrected. --Kleinzach 00:22, 9 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Oh thank you so much for your approbation in this matter ! If you look carefully you will see that the Solti set was never deleted but as it dates from 1963 it was moved to its rightful place, the Gavazzeni set dates from 1960 not 1969 so I replaced it with the 1967 EMI set with the intention of adding it to its rightful place when I had the missing info and I DO KNOW THIS IS NOT A SELECTED DISCOGRAPHY ! --Marleau (talk) 13:42, 9 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Recording with Aragall, Weikl, Popp

[edit]

There is a recording with Aragall, Weikl and Popp that I cannot find on the discography. Conductor: Gardelli. Not sure of the year.Cimabue13 (talk) 16:49, 16 October 2010 (UTC)Cimabue13[reply]

This recording was made in 1985 and reviewed in the March 1989 issue of Gramophone: see here. Rgds. --Francesco Malipiero (talk) 17:26, 16 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I went ahead and added it to the list.4meter4 (talk) 20:40, 16 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

References ???

[edit]

It is my opinion that the references section in this article should be deleted. It has only one "reference", which is a list of recordings compiled by one customer at Amazon.com: I don't think this sort of list qualifies as a reference, but others may disagree --Francesco Malipiero (talk) 17:40, 16 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I agree that the amazon ref is bad. I replaced it with a more reputable source.4meter4 (talk) 20:32, 16 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Karajan?

[edit]

What is the reference for the 1983 Karajan recording? AFAIK Karajan never performed or recorded Rigoletto (except selections). I think this entry is fake. --FordPrefect42 (talk) 14:10, 1 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

There were repeatedly problems with IPs adding bootleg or fake recordings into opera discographies. I couldn't find any Deutsche Grammophon +"435 639-2". It should be removed. -- Michael Bednarek (talk) 14:27, 1 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Removed. It may be reinserted, reliable sources provided. --FordPrefect42 (talk) 19:11, 1 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The cast of Rigoletto recorded in Studio at Philharmonie in Berlin, March 1983, it's:
Thomas Allen (Rigoletto), Kathleen Battle (Gilda), José Carreras (Duke), Helga Müller-Molinari (Maddalena),
Evgeny Nesterenko (Sparafucile), José van Dam (Monterone), Ann Murray (Giovanna), Alexander Malta (Marullo),
Volker Horn (Borsa), Victor von Halem (Count of Ceprano), Janet Perry (Countess of Ceprano), Inga Nielsen (A Page);
Chorus of Teatro La Fenice of Venice, Chorus master: Aldo Danielli;
Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, Conductor: Herbert von Karajan. Label: Deutsche Grammophon. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 79.12.83.242 (talk) 10:49, 21 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

And the catalogue number is? Any supporting sources? -- Michael Bednarek (talk) 12:43, 21 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I've searched and searched and found no evidence of this recording. With all the star power listed, it should be easy to prove... I say it's a fake.4meter4 (talk) 23:26, 21 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Monterone

[edit]

The casts don't need (IMHO)to include Marullo, Borsa, or Ceprano; these are not significant characters. But Monterone is critical to the plot, and is an imposing, memorable character, often sung by very notable singers, including Plinio Clabassi, Fernando Corena, Georg Hann, Ingvar Wixell, Samuel Ramey, Kurt Moll, and even (in his youth) Matti Salminen. He deserves his place in the lists; god knows he doesn't get much else. HandsomeMrToad (talk) 03:25, 8 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I agree that Monterone is crucial and significant in several ways. However, the role is very short. -- Michael Bednarek (talk) 12:10, 8 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
User talk:HandsomeMrToad, I dont see any issue if you want to add the role but for consistency, do it for all the performances, not for selected few only. If you can find the singer for all the performances listed on the table (which is hard because the role is less significant), please add it. Anyway I agree with User talk:Michael Bednarek, the role is very short -Jay (talk) 13:06, 8 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, yes, it's a very short role, but very significant. Like the Commendatore in Don Giovanni, or the Grand Inquisitor in Don Carlos. HandsomeMrToad (talk) 23:25, 12 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
