Strat or Neet

[edit]

Having created the article for the River Strat, the two quoted (local i.e Cornish/West Country) references distingush between a northern Strat and a southern tributary Neet but modern Ordnance Survey maps have the northern river as 'Neet or Strat' and leave the southern tributary un-named - if anyone with good local knowledge knows more about this confusion and ideally is able to supply references, then please add further material as may be appropriate! cheers Geopersona (talk) 11:52, 15 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Can't really help you, but I noticed there is commons:Category:River Neet which contains lots of photos of what this article is calling Strat. — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 12:28, 19 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, yes. And when you go to the Geograph website from whence those images came and bring up the small map window which has the latest OS mapping in you find the river through Stratton named unambiguously as 'River Strat' on the 25K mapping zoom level and the southern tributary unambiguously as the 'River Neet' on the next layer down. It's clearly a catchment with a back-story to tell! cheers Geopersona (talk) 16:50, 19 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
