Overnight Delivery similarities[edit]

If you've ever seen the movie Overnight Delivery, you've noticed numerous similarities between the premise and ending of the movies. [Moved from the article. Please fit them into appropriate sections--if they can't be, then they might as well be deleted. Item 1 really doesn't strike me as relevant, and the reference is only to Barrymore and Green being engaged; item 2 is valid, sure, in some section; item 3 seems trivial to me, and valid only, possibly, in the article for Deliverance. Listing every quote from every movie in every movie article, that's really quite trivial and suggests that intertextuality is an exception rather than a necessary mode.]

The motel clerk (Andy Dick) reads an issue of Celebrity Skin magazine with Drew Barrymore on the cover. At the time, Drew Barrymore was engaged to Tom Green, who plays Barry.^[1]
The scene in which Barry ceremoniously repeats the phrase "unleash the fury" before feeding Mitch the snake was later used at Washington Capitals hockey games, and fans yell it at the end of the repetition. It was previously played at Atlanta Thrashers home games.^[2]
Upon reaching the broken bridge, E.L. states that he thinks they're "About twenty minutes from our first ass raping" in a reference to Deliverance.

Reference[edit]

Editors have made good faith efforts in adding content, I prefer to make an extra effort to try to merge and include rather than taking the easy option of deleting. In fairness they had been tagged as needing citations for a very long time. Of the three items the second strikes me as "Cultural impact" and the best item of the three and worth a mention. The first is a bit weak I suppose, I guess I feel the sheer weirdness of Andy Dick requires additional context but unless the filmmakers mention the reference to Barrymore in the DVD commentary it probably is not worth reincluding. The third item could possible be worked into the plot summary, only it is far longer than recommended already so if someone does try to shorten it any nuance will be lost. I suppose it could go to Wikiquote. I'll think about it some more and probably reinclude only the second item. -- Horkana (talk) 12:18, 1 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Plot[edit]

Per WP:BOLD, I reduced the plot substantially to a plot summary. The previous description of the "plot" was around 14,000 bytes and took roughly 70% of the article. That's ridiculous. I understand if my version is too short, but I wasn't going to try and salvage, rework, and cut down that older version. Feel free to expand upon what I left, but let's keep it a lot shorter. Somebody who speaks English needs to read and fix the page. It has numerous errors (Somebody used spellcheck and the word was changed to a different word)

MY PLOT POST & ITS DELETION[edit]

I spent today, a great deal of time writing out the full plot of the film only to discover to my reasonable horror, that it was entirely deleted. I ask why this was the case. This was unwarranted and I view this as a personal offense. I expect a response to this.
