Blacklisted Links Found on the Main Page[edit]

Cyberbot II has detected that page contains external links that have either been globally or locally blacklisted. Links tend to be blacklisted because they have a history of being spammed, or are highly innappropriate for Wikipedia. This, however, doesn't necessarily mean it's spam, or not a good link. If the link is a good link, you may wish to request whitelisting by going to the request page for whitelisting. If you feel the link being caught by the blacklist is a false positive, or no longer needed on the blacklist, you may request the regex be removed or altered at the blacklist request page. If the link is blacklisted globally and you feel the above applies you may request to whitelist it using the before mentioned request page, or request it's removal, or alteration, at the request page on meta. When requesting whitelisting, be sure to supply the link to be whitelisted and wrap the link in nowiki tags. The whitelisting process can take its time so once a request has been filled out, you may set the invisible parameter on the tag to true. Please be aware that the bot will replace removed tags, and will remove misplaced tags regularly.

Below is a list of links that were found on the main page:

Triggered by \bnowpublic\.com\b on the local blacklist

If you would like me to provide more information on the talk page, contact User:Cyberpower678 and ask him to program me with more info.

Puffery[edit]

We seem to have a good bit of puffery here. When a notable, meaningful award is won, there is coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the award. For example, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences awards "Oscars" and numerous newspapers and such report who won. Jimmy's Movie Blog names the "20 Best Uses of Rubber Cement in Superhero Films" and the only place you'll read about it is jimmysmovieblog.wordpress.com.

Similarly, while a blog mentions VegNews Magazine's "15 most influential vegan athlete", this is simply an article, not an award.

"(F)eatured in more than 20 magazines" is not meaningful information. "Featured" likely means...just about anything. "(M)ore than 20"? So, I guess that's 21. Maybe we should call it "less than 22"? "(M)agazines"? Wow. Does Jimmy Carter give an unsourced claim about how many magazines he has been "featured" in and the countries those magazines are "from"?

He's been in commercials! If they are meaningful in some way, they will be discussed in reliable sources that are independent of the commercials themselves.

He "has been on a number of television news shows, radio interviews". My 12 year old niece -- who, brilliant and charming though she is, is not in any way notable -- "has been on a number of television news shows". Radio interviews, in a world with, roughly, 18 quintillion radio stations on 24-7, are twelve for ten cents, with change back.

He "is featured on over 300 websites and in over 300 videos on the internet, including hosting his own show". Give me a day and a person to promote and I will create "over 300 websites", "over 300 videos" and your very own "show".

There's a lot more. The basic idea is this: This page is written like someone really wants to build up this guy, not report objectively who he is and why he is notable. The related article, Brendan Brazier had similar problems. (The guy set up an event for himself and sent invitations to members of Congress and their staff. The article decided he had addressed Congress.)

I'm going to start cleaning out the peacockery. If I remove something and you feel it is noteworthy, feel free to restore it with an independent reliable source and/or discuss it here. - SummerPhDv2.0 13:37, 15 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
