POV[edit]

I realise that the text is taken from the 1911 Britannica, but the level of POV throughout the article is quite overwhelming. Could someone knowledgeable please tidy it up, because in its present state the style is very offputting to the reader.--Mais oui! 12:25, 25 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]
