Time in space

[edit]

Why does it list 200 hours in space? Did RHL spend 200 hours in his Starfighter above the Karman line? Other online sources say he never traveled in space. Can someone please clarify? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 199.212.27.241 (talk) 14:55, 28 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The original article had "None" for Time in Space. An edit with no citation from an IP address on January 26, 2009 changed the value to 200 hours. I concur this does not make sense and changed the value back to zero. Good catch. Skeet Shooter (talk) 02:16, 29 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Early Years

[edit]

The tail of the last sentence ... that part of chemistry which involved the conversion of tritium rays to methane gas makes no chemical sense, and Reference 3 is of no use. 94.30.84.71 (talk) 18:22, 24 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I replaced the thesis description with its title, in a footnote. It's linked to OSTI, since I failed to find anything better. 98.216.110.149 (talk) 03:00, 9 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

was he dropped from the Gemini program or was that someone else?

[edit]

Watching s31e3 of American Experience on PBS. There was a black pilot in the second wave of astronauts that was seemingly unceremoniously dropped. There was a press conference with the ones who were selected and a reporter asked, and I'm paraphrasing but the horrible part is verbatim, "on the topic of integration, was there a negro boy in this class?" to which Deke Slayton flatly said "no." Shortly after that scene they showed a press conference with the pilot, who I think might be Lawrence, answering, or rather deflecting questions about why he was dropped. Unfortunately I don't have tivo so I can't rewind and see if it is the same guy and google is not coming up with anything.141.156.187.235 (talk) 05:52, 18 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

The black test pilot mentioned in the show was Ed Dwight. Skeet Shooter (talk) 11:59, 18 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Preview Picture

[edit]

As of 8/18/2023 the "preview" hover for Robert does not feature his picture. You can find a link to him at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Space_Mirror_Memorial#Honorees

It would be nice if we can get this working. I wasn't able to find a clear way to get Robert's image loading in his preview hover. Thank you to anyone who can get this working for him. Dukaso (talk) 16:16, 18 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Dukaso, the image shows in the hover preview for me. Schazjmd (talk) 16:26, 18 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Schazjmd weird, thanks. I should have tried a few browsers first. 71.235.106.67 (talk) 00:19, 19 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
